PHRASAL VERBS - 1

PHRASAL VERBS : are formed by a verb followed by one or more prepositions. The meaning of the phrasal verb can only be determined by the verb and preposition as a unit, not by combining the meanings of the verb and the preposition alone. For example, the meaning of the phrasal verb wake up "awake" cannot be determined by combining the meaning of the verb wake "rise from sleep" and the meaning of the preposition up "at a higher point." Phrasal verbs often have single-word synonyms as in wake up and awake.

"Verb တစ္လံုး ေနာက္ ကေန preposition တစ္လံုး သို့မဟုတ္ ႏွစ္လံုး ပါ၀င္ဖြဲ ့စည္းထား တဲ့ စကားစု ကို Phrasal Verb လို ့ေခၚပါတယ္၊ Phrasal verb ရဲ့ အဓိပၸါယ္ ဟာ verb နဲ ့ preposition ရဲ့ အဓိပၸါယ္ ႏွစ္ ခု ကိုေပါင္းစပ္ ေဖၚယူ လို ့မရပဲ ကို ၂ခုေပါင္းၿပီး စာလံုး တစ္လံုး၊ unit တစ္ခု အေန နဲ ့သာ ယူရပါတယ္၊ ဥပမာအားၿဖင့္- 'wake up' ဆိုတဲ့ Phrasal verb ရဲ့ အဓိပၸါယ္ 'awake-အိပ္ရာမွႏိုးသည္' ဆိုတာ 'wake-အိပ္ရာမွႏိုးသည္' နဲ ့ 'up-အၿမင့္ မွာ' ကို ေပါင္းၿပီး အဓိပၸါယ္ ဖြင့္လို ့မရပါဘူး၊ Phrasal verb ဆိုတဲ့ verb စကားစု ေတြဟာ Wake up က Awake နဲ့ တူ သလိုပဲ စာလံုး တစ္လံုး အေန နဲ့ ပဲ ယူေလ့ရွိပါတယ္"

Phrasal verb ကို ေန့စဥ္ အမွ် သတင္းစာေတြ၊ စကားေၿပာ ေတြမွာ ၿမင္ေန ၾကားေနရ မွာပါ၊ သိတဲ့ လူေတြ ရွိ သလို၊ verb နဲ့ preposition တဲြ သံုး တာ လို့႔ပဲ ထင္ေနၾကတဲ့ သူေတြလဲရွိ မွာပါ၊ အဲလို ထင္ၿပီး အဓိပၸါယ္ေကာက္ လႊဲတာ၊ အဓိပၸါယ္ လံုး ၀ေဖၚမရ သူေတြလဲရွိၾကမွာပါ၊ မွန္ မွန္ ကန္ကန္ သံုးတတ္၊ နားလည္ တတ္ေအာင္ အသံုးမ်ား တဲ့ Phrasal verb ေတြကို ရွာေဖြတင္ဆက္ သြားပ့ါမယ္။

"Phrasal verb ဟာ သာမာန္ verb လို ပဲ Transitive (ကံလို တဲ့ verb) နဲ့ Intransitive verbs (ကံမလို တဲ့ verb) ဆို တာရွိပါတယ္၊ ေနာက္မွ အလွ်င္း သင့္သလို ေဖၚၿပ သြားပ့ါမယ္၊ ေလာေလာ ဆယ္ မွာ အ သုံးတဲ့ မဲ့ Phrasal verb ေတြကို ၾကည့္ၾကရေအာင္။"

1 ask for -request (ေတာင္းဆို သည္)

2 call for -require, demand (လိုအပ္သည္၊ေတာင္းဆို သည္)

"မင္းရာထူးတိုးတယ္ ဟုတ္လား၊ စားပြဲ ေသာက္ပြဲ တစ္ပြဲ ပဲ ေဟ့ "
3 bear with - tolerate (သည္းခံသည္)

4 bring up-raise (ၾကီးၿပင္းသည္)

5 call on (upon) "visit (သြားေရာက္လည္ပတ္သည္)

8 carry out -perform (လုပ္ေဆာင္သည္၊ေဆာင္ရြက္သည္)"

9 come round to-recover (ေရာဂါမွ သက္သာလာသည္၊ သတိၿပန္လည္လာသည္)

10 cut down on "reduce (ေလွ်ာ့ခ်သည္)"
